As the resilient people of Louisiana seek to rebuild their lives after the devastation brought to their shores by Hurricane Ida, we at Vishio Forry seek to provide resources for all those affected by this storm. The resources below are a starting point but are by no means exhaustive.

Apply For Assistance Through FEMA

President Biden approved a major disaster declaration on August 30th, allowing Louisianans to access government assistance to assist in recovery efforts in areas affected by Hurricane Ida. To apply for government assistance, visit www.disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-200-462-7585. More information may be found at www.fema.gov/disaster/hurricane-ida.

“LA Free Legal Answers” is an online pro bono program that connects low-income clients with volunteer attorneys. Visit https://la.freelegalanswers.org/ to search for programs in your parish.

For additional legal help, storm survivors may subscribe to the “Louisiana Disaster Legal Tip Line” to receive helpful texts on disaster-related legal issues. Text “subscribe” to 318-405-4185 to sign up for this service provided by the Lagniappe Law Lab, whose purpose is to “narrow the access to justice gap”.
