Garrett Clifford

Garrett is a fourth-generation Miamian who has a great love for the State of Florida. He received his undergrad degree in history from Florida State University, in 2007. He then went on to receive his law degree from the University of Florida, in 2012.

Garrett began his career as a solo practitioner, with a focus on quieting title and landlord-tenant disputes. He soon transitioned to focusing almost exclusively on insurance disputes, including representing hundreds of residential and commercial property owners in their claims against various insurance carriers who underpaid or outright denied legitimate property damage claims. Garrett has spent over a dozen years fighting for his clients in court. With experience in homeowners, commercial, condominium, church, and school claims, Garrett has represented policy holders across the country. Within Florida, Garrett has handled every aspect of insurance claims, from pre-litigation, mediations, arbitrations, trials to appeals up o the Florida Supreme Court.”

Garrett’s accomplishments include successfully defending verdicts on appeal, as well as being one of the few attorneys, living or dead, who has successfully limited the “litigation privilege” or “judicial privilege.”

Garrett is a member of the Florida Bar and U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Garrett enjoys spending time with family, pursuing archery, DIY projects, and reading science fiction.

Notable Accomplishments:

  • Post hurricane losses: Has represented hundreds of policyholders in obtaining favorable insurance coverage and benefits paid for hurricane related damages.
  • Has represented hundreds of business and property owners in construction defect, manufacturing and design defect cases to successful conclusion.
  • Defended the general contractor in a multi-party construction, design, product defect case where the roof trusses on a 4-story cathedral roof failed causing serious personal injury.
  • Defended the manufacturer of grinding wheels which were alleged to have been defectively designed causing them to explode in certain “cut-off” wheel applications.
  • Defended a wrongful death case against a local municipality which was named as a target defendant for failure to properly maintain the trees and shrubs at an alleged “dangerous railroad crossing.”
  • Has successfully handled hundreds of motor vehicle accident cases.
  • Represented the manufacturer of the location transponder beacon used on a private aircraft that malfunctioned when the plane crashed in a remote snow-covered mountain.
  • Represented tire manufacturer for product defect when the tire tread separated causing catastrophic accident and injuries.
  • Represented the manufacturer of the safety brake on a horse trailer that failed when the trailer became unhitched and plowed head-on into a motor vehicle traveling in the opposite lane of travel killing all occupants of another motor vehicle.
